Banking Built on Trust

For over 25 years, Cooperative Bank Tanzania Plc. has been rooted in the cooperative movement — empowering individuals, businesses, and communities across Tanzania.

Our Story

Cooperative Bank Tanzania Plc. was established in the 1990s to serve the financial needs of cooperative societies and their members across Tanzania. Born out of the cooperative movement, the bank was founded on the principles of self-help, mutual responsibility, and community ownership.

Over the decades, the bank has expanded from a single headquarters to a growing network of branches across the country. In the 2010s, the introduction of CoopNet Internet Banking and the CoopEsa Mobile App brought modern digital banking to cooperative members. The launch of CoopWakala agency banking in 2018 further extended financial services to underserved and rural areas. Today, Cooperative Bank operates 8+ branches with a target of 30+ nationwide, continuing to drive financial inclusion and economic empowerment for all Tanzanians.
